For those of you who know me, move on. For the rest, here are a couple things you should know about me if we're going to making deals:
1) I firmly believe that a trade is only possible if it makes both teams better. It's about matching assets to needs. It is not about gaining an advantage over the other team or "winning" trades.
2) I base my player values and decisions on economic theory and statistical research, backed by personal viewings, and when I give an offer or opinion on a player, it's what I truly believe. I may be wrong sometimes, but I'm making offers based on honesty.
3) I'm fair as hell. As I said, the only good deals are the ones where each team improves. I'm willing to work that out however we can, but I don't like dealing with owners who don't feel the same way. Often times, it is better to just realize that the current discussion is going nowhere and move on.
4) I think the best trades are the simple ones, so I'm not often going to make huge multiplayer deals unless they really make sense.
5) When I evaluate a trade, I also evaluate things like opportunity costs and future values. If I have to drop a player to make a trade, that cost is factored into the equation. If an offer from another owner is three players for my one, then that means I still have to move two more players. I'll be looking for compensation for those guys, too.
6) I evaluate players for trade to four different results measures, all on a probability-adjusted basis:
7) If you want my rationale for an offer, I'll provide it to you. I have nothing to hide. In fact, the more we both know about what the other owner thinks and wants to get out of the trade, the more likely we are to reach an equitable solution to item #1.
I'm only posting this to save us future headaches. As others here can attest, I'll make moves, and lots of them. I'll average probably around 10-15 trades a year. I'm honest and opinionated and it's likely that I'll offend some of you here if I haven't already. I hope not to, but I probably will. Still, I hope to have many pleasant and fruitful conversations with all of you.
Now, if we could only get these guys back on NHL ice...

- draft pick equivalent
- current fantasy point equivalent
- future fantasy point equivalent
- team needs
